How on earth does a lunatic like Mahmoud Ahmadinejad become the leader of a country?

Was the entire Iranian population asleep when this maniac came along? Do you hear his comments about 9/11? This is the same guy who doesn't believe man landed on the moon. What do you do with someone like this? Wake up Iran before it's too late! Or is it already too late?

1. I am sure his" election" was an over reaction to poor governing before him. It seems to happen when people are really unhappy with what is going on they over react to the opposite side. Now they can't get him out.
2. I think we would live a much less stressful life if we stopped reading/watching news and current affairs. That would most likely make us a lot happier and increase our average life span too.
3. Like most dictators, he got into power by staging a revolution during the 1980s and has been fixing elections to stay there ever since. He made promises to the Iranian people, and when a country is struggling, people will be more inclined to believe people who come along promising great things. The same thing happened with Hitler. A lot of Iranians do see him for what he is, however he is silencing them. Only a couple of months ago, Iranians staged protests against him and his regime and he sent his police force out to quieten them. He doesn't allow foreign media into the country, because he doesn't want the world to know that his own people resent him. I hope the Iranian people will be able to stage some sort of uprising. It would be amazing. They've done it before.
4. In truth, Ahmadinejad is the mouthpiece for the Ayatollahs that really run the country. If he was doing anything they didn't approve, they could call him onto the carpet and fail to fix the next faux-election in his favor.

6. irainians boycotted the election in 2005 because they were feeling frustrated of reforms in that country, obviously that was a mistake, ppl came out to vote in 2009 to vote him out but he cheated in the election and stayed in power, you probably know about the follow up protests and the police crackdown, the guy is a waking propaganda machine, he doesnt represent the majority of ppl especially the youth,
7. Try this! Do You Know Violent Israel Can Not Continue Violence? May be some of us have forgotten the fact that 2007 Israeli invasion of Lebanon was illegal and immoral. Mighty Israelis continued their assault on Lebanese civilians as Lebanon does not have Army, Navy and Air Force. However, when the Hezbullah started to fire the Zilzal Missile the game changed. Because the Zilzal can reach any part of Israel from any part of Lebanon inflicting heavy causalities! Anyway, the defensive forces of Lebanon and many other naturally grown resistance forces got much more missiles to strike Israel and stop Israeli aggression continuum. Iran got more sophisticated weaponry and they are in a very high moral ground supported by almost everyone if this world. Therefore; Israel must renounce violence, manipulation and deception for it’s own existence. Israel can survive by opting for real peace and rejecting violence and aggression. As far as Iran goes please consider the followings: Iran is not running the longest running concentration camps known to mankind located inside occupied Palestine with a stamp of infinity. Iran is not murdering unarmed kids in their mum’s cradle, schoolyard and backyard. Iran is not murdering other nationals by using friendly nation’s passports and protection. Iran has not used phosphorous bombs to Civilians of Gaza. Iran has not invaded Lebanon and murdered civilians. Iran has not bombed Syria. Iran is not distributing passports from God to ethnically cleanse Arabs (Muslims and Christians). Iran is not a holy land. Iranians are not ‘chosen’ people. Iranians are not from superior race.
8. The same way Mussolini, Hitler, Stalin, Mao and other dictators came to power. A combination of lies, betrayals, propaganda, and from their point of view, luck. Once in power they maintain their power by striking out at countries they proclaim as threats, feeding the public a constant barrage lies and fabrications, but always with the same message. "You are under attack from these terrible outside forces, and I am here to save you from them." If you tell a lie often enough, people start to believe it. Some countries rise up on their own when the realize they have been had and throw the bums out. Other are ground under the heel of the dictator so badly it takes an outside force to free them Time will tell what the Iranian people are made of.
9. I fully agree with what Dan the TEA Man said. In addition, Mr. Otto von Bismarck said one time that each nation deserve leaders that they have.

13. Every cataclysmic event needs a catalyst. Ahmadinejad is one. What horrifies me is then extent of destruction he promises. That to against a nation that is fully equipped for a war at the highest level, including the use of Nuclear weapons if required. I met a couple of Iranian girls and I told them, find a life outside Iran or at least Tehran. Cause this man does not seem to understand the violence that will visit his country given his statements. And the biggest tragedy is that these girls are completely opposed to him and what he stands for. But like they said, they were denied any role in his reelection. They have to live with his reality and they cant handle it. That is the tragedy of Iran.
