Why does the media refer to Iran's president Ahmadinejad as a "hard-liner" but not the USA presidents?

Bush and Obama are rather "hard line" with the Patriot Act, domestic spying, indefinite detention and waging wars on peaceful nations that are of no harm to us. Why are they picking on Iran?
