Academic papers and empirical studies on reception of news programs online?

Where can I find literature on measuring audience reception, awareness and understanding of news and current affairs on television? The literature should preferably be dated from 2000 to 2007. I am doing a literature review and I can't find any other timely article in my school library.

  1. Your reference librarian will be able to help you. You won't find it on the internet. But each industry publishes two or three journals -- these are magazines that come out monthly, quarterly or semi-annually. The journals for the media industry have that information in them. They give the number of people surveyed, what method of survey was used, what the raw numbers were and what the cross-tabs are (cross tabs are a fancy name for results). These numbers are all broken down into each category you mentioned. Btw. these journals are a gold mine, people in the industry or profession, say psychiatry send in papers to be published, the old publish or perish rule. They are a gold mine for professors because we catch students who bought essays that way. Essay selling companies usually just send copies of papers that have been published. However, if students use the journals themselves and cite them as sources, it not only gives you extra marks, it makes writing term papers a lot easier. If your library doesn't subscribe to the professional journal you need it pays for a student to subscribe to one or two themselves, they aren't very expensive. They also have reviews of the latest research books written, so you can order a copy of something your professor may not even know about through the library and include it in an essay. No one else will have it and it sure helps in getting you an "A"
