President Iran

Do you believe the online news that "Recession is over"?

I have seen so many online news articles proclaiming "Recession is over" and other rosy pictures. Looking at the the current economy I find these online news of "Recession is Over" a big lie. People are still getting laid off, I apply for jobs no answer, and people are still losing their homes etc. Do you believe the online news that "Recession is Over" or is it a load of bunk? Please inform in your answer why you think yes or no. Thank you all for your time.

  1. It probably is over. Unfortunately, jobs are the last thing to start coming back after a recession (businesses have to start making more money before they start hiring people.) My guess is that we came out of it this quarter, but jobs won't pick up until the first quarter of 2010. Technically, Storm, the bill wouldn't cause the crash, consumer confidence would cause the crash. If people got scared (which they will, unfortunately, thanks to the sensationalism in the media and political rhetoric) they may stop spending money. That's what would cause the crash, not anything to do with the bill, especially since it would take years to go into effect.
  2. I dont believe so. Once this health bill is passed (god help us all) the economy will crash yet again. no hating please, but obama isnt the president that we elected. hes just a politician
  3. recession is not yet over but there r some signs that the economy is in the road to recover; one of sign is the less contraction in GDP compared in the past quarters; but experts have warned that unemployment rate will rise further and foreclosure will also continue to rise
  4. No, it is nothing but partisan propaganda. Once again, the partisan sheep are bleating that if things stop getting worse, then they will start getting better tomorrow. No, it means we're now mired up to the axles in the mud, and we can't dig in any deeper. But to them, being mired up to your axles means you stopped going down, so you'll be floating up out of the mud and flying away at 100 mph ZOOM in just a few more minutes. So keep spinning those wheels, it's starting to work. We stopped going down, so it must be we'll go up if we spin the wheels faster. Next they'll be cheering that the stock market is up almost to 10,000. Remember when the market was 12,000? And they're cheering that it's 9,000 now. Baa baa baa...
  5. Well the unemployment rate has increased.
  6. No, it's not over. People are getting laid off, no place will hire anyone, and this credit thing is going too far still. It's a load of crap!
  7. Not a chance.
  8. The recession may be coming to an end, but it will still take time for everything to balance back out. Remember when this all started, larger cities were hit hardest first off. Then as things started to drop, the smaller cities were hit as well. If we are indeed coming back up, it could take years for everything to get back to the way it was. Unfortunately, the phrase "The Recession is Over" doesn't mean that a switch was flipped and everything went back to the way it was.
