What is interesting about Mahmoud Ahmadinejad?

I need a topic on something in the middle east.. So I am considering Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and I know nothing interesting about him.

Public Comments

1. That he was part of the militant group that took the US embassy workers hostage in 1979. Another thing I find interesting about his is that, though he president of Iran, he has little more decision making power than you or I. All decisions are made by the Ayatollah.
2. Hes an honest politician, 'what you see is what you get'. Unlike most politicians they are known to be lyers and cheats. He lives a simple life and isnt power crazy. He stands up for rights. And by the way, the Irish sean guy is chatting rubbish ;)
3. In reality, he is a puppet of Iranian clerics.
4. Nothing interesting for others than for iranians,some iranians.Other than "some" Americans despise him and wish to raise fears on him.Demonize him. These is due to these Americans obsession with Iran,as they'd prefer a puppet leader not an elected one in Iranians own country.Regardless if it would be a tirane like their Shah's or Saddam or Mobutu or Pinochet or Mugabe or Franco,etc,etc. But so long they are "their" son of B****es.
5. He's the president of Iran.
6. He was invited to give a televised christmas address to the british people on mainstream british tv at Christmas 2008. It was broadcast and very interesting. Good to hear an alternative viewpoint. You might find it on the Channel Four website
7. He has stated in interviews that there are absolutely no gay people in Iran. You could write about how homosexuality is perceived in the Middle East, or how it is addressed by its leaders.
