President Iran

Why should anyone care what Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad says or does?

This man is full of nonesense, but I do not get why the media is so focused on HIM. Maybe it's for comical reasons, he says the craizest things. If I am correct Amedinijad has no real power and that true power lies within another position (Supreme Leader)? Should anyone take him seriously?

  1. The man who's country is killing off 3000+ of our solders, yeah, let's ignore him [/sarcasm] and perhaps I don't know as much about this subject as you (below). I'm already here, so deal with my answer.
  2. The real power in Iran does rest with the mullahs, and the Supreme Leader (ayatollah). However, President Ahmadinejad was truly elected by the Iranian citizens. So, he does have power, and obviously is the elected, representing face of Iran to the world. Why should the West (Americans) be concerned? Because rhetoric can be inflammatory, and his words can incite others to do things. And while the mullahs have the ultimate authority, Ahmadinejad can direct the police, etc., to crack down on what is viewed as interest in the West and Western ideas. It is American media that is so focused on him. Interestingly enough, whenever I travel aboard, happenings in the Middle East, Israeli and Iranian affairs ARE NOT front-page news. The aforementioned items are front-page news in American because of the lobbyists, media influenced by political agendas, etc.
  3. (Academy's ignorance is amusing.) I agree, the US is putting too much attention on Ahmadinejad, while ignoring the greater power of Ayatollah Ali Meshkini. However, he is great PR for Bush's drum beating for war on Iran. Here's his general powers: The president, as chief executive, is responsible for the day-to-day running of the country. He does not, however, determine the general guidelines of Iranian domestic and foreign policy, nor does he command the armed forces and security organs. This authority, provided for in the constitution, lies in the hands of the "supreme leader", the strongest power center in the Islamic Republic, currently Ayatollah Ali Meshkini.
  4. You better care nitwit...He is at the epicenter of the greateast threat to our countyr since the USSR. Clean out your head, get serious and act like a grown up.
  5. whether he has power or not he is representing them and is very hardline more so than any leader they have had so far. makes khomeini look like a pussycat.
  6. Extremely serious. If you will watch a show on discovery or the history channel about the connection between Sadam & Hitler you will suddenly say "OH MY GOD" There actually is a DIRECT link from the 3rd Riech to this ISLAMOFASCISM documented by reputable sources and explained in plain English. Yes Amedinijad is crazy so were Sadam,Hitler,Amin, insert the name of any of these from the 20th century and if you check the other facts you will see that sanctions only hurt the very people we wish to help while those whom we wish to influence are insulated by oil money, see oil for food under the control of the U.N.
  7. Clearly a misinformed bunch and sure to get many thumbs down. Stop please turn off your damn TV's long enough to use your own minds. Chris S way off base you would be the guy that ran off the cliff cause george told you to your scary dude. This President of Iran is not what our media portrays him as and it is indeed another cia media controlled op. Your best chance of informing yourself is to do minor research on him before you listen to these one liners that our media spews on him. Watch the interview with 60 minutes below it is the unedited and uncut version. Also find the letter he wrote to president bush about 2 years ago. It was dismissed by our administration but was actually a very well written piece about our nations coming together in peace for our people. research it will make you look smarter, heres a start below.
  8. I sure don't.
  9. Because the man is seriously dangerous in an almost psychotic way. He has plenty of power in Iran as well as what appears to be a favorable relationship with Syria - another country to be more than a little wary about.
  10. But George is funnier than Mr Bean. stephenwells said what I was goonna say.. so best answer to him.. you got some real sad ones....God Help America.
  11. You're wrong again....Iran's real power lies within its ties with Giant Russia and Vast China...without these two, Iran would be irrevelant!
