Why did the President of Iran congratulate Obama?

No Presient of Iran has congratulated an American President since the Fundamentalist Terrorist Ayatolla's took over the country. Why are they praising Obama?

3. The GOP has done a lot of saber rattling towards Iran, and does not want to negotiate on issues effecting the two countries. Obama at least has indicated that he is willing to iron our our differences. Which would you trust in a case like that?

5. Because Obama has demonstrated a tragic weakness, the same weakness that Clinton and Carter displayed - that of wanting the illusion of peace with implacable enemies. Carter was content to let America become a second-rate power and let the Soviets spread communism thru armed conflict around the world. Clinton was willing to turn a blind eye towards our enemies who attacked us with impunity, leaving it to someone else to deal with after 8 years of neglect. Obama has supported reducing American military might and taking soft stances towards actions by rogue states, which only serves to encourage further action on their part. His weak response to the Russian invasion of Georgia means that Putin will take more aggressive actions in the future. His simplistic belief that he can simply talk to Iran and change their ways is ridiculous and belied by the entirety of human history. The age of Obama will be marked by increased violence and oppression in the world. That's the fruit of weakness.

9. You are wrong! Iranian ex-president Khatami congratulated both Clinton and Bush. And, Ahmadinejad congratulated Bush too! This is a diplomatic institution, and they usually do that. He would have congratulated McCain too if he was elected. This way Ahmadinejad both showed respect to the American people's votes, and also gave his message, and call for mutual respect.
